When you get into Cams, Super Chargers, Turbos, Nitrous, etc. to make big HP, then you will benefit from 3 inch exhaust. Going with 3 inch exhaust but not doing the big mods basically does not gain you much other than maybe a deeper tone. Also remember, you do need a certain amount of backpressure to get the most out of your engine which is why staying with 2.5 inch exhaust is not a bad idea at all. Good luck.

P.S. I went with a 2.5 inch custom X-pipe config with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers and love them. Flowmaster now offers a full 3 inch catback solution using their 40 series mufflers that also sounds fantastic. Be sure to consider those as well.

So if I replaced mystock pipes with a 3" system (magnaflow)would I
actually be able to tell I lost some torque from driving (no dyno)?

Is there alot of difference in the tone of a 2 1/2 vs a 3" (magnaflow)"
