I could be wrong but when I did my vvt stage 3 for my truck my tuner told me not to start it at all until he gives me a start up tune ..
I take it you never verified if the dowel pin from the cam was in the notch In the back of the phaser gear ?

1. Phaser installed per TSP instructions.
2. Dowel Pin appeared to have engaged cam sprocket in assembly, but difficult to tell. Will verify as I disassemble.
3. TSP indicated only DOD need be turned off, it was.
