YOU damaged my car YOU pay to fix it. If you can’t that’s why you have insurance. If you didn’t have any and can’t come up with $20k, why is that MY problem?

Let's go back to the home owner insurance scenario. Let's say I'm burning leaves in my back yard and a stray, burning ember flies over in the breeze and torches your roof. Is it my home owner's insurance or yours that covers the damage?
It's a rhetorical question of course as it would be your insurance that you chose to buy, that would cover the damage. As for my responsibility in the matter, you (or more likely, your insurance company) would have every right to take it up in civil court and force me to pay reparations. My home owner's insurance would not be party to any of it.
