I only need the Flowtie. (edit:But may entertain the entire grille if the price is reasonable) Depending on which grille is chosen, yeah it may be solid but the Heritage Grille is exactly like the Z/28 grille. It is not solid in the emblem area. When I had my '14 SS 1LE I bought the Heritage grille and modified my OE Bowtie exactly how the GM engineer did when they developed the Flowtie. Eventually I found a new Flowtie on Ebay and mounted it to the Heritage grille.
The Flowtie mounts via a backing plate that is shaped like a Bowtie with the center hollowed out. Pic below.
Unfortunately for me, when I traded in my '14, the Flowtie and Heritage grille went with the car. I don't have many regrets in life but not swapping in my modded OE Bowtie for the authentic Flowtie is one of them
I am looking to do the Flowtie on my '22. I already installed the old modded '14 Bowtie, but I want the real one. I looked at the Gen6 ZL1 Flowtie and it is slightly bigger (Edit: I believe I was wrong on this) and it is much thinner which would make mounting more difficult.
