Plus only problem you’ve had in 10 years….. will it be only problem you have in next 10?
You’ll also be getting into the newer LT1 and getting a lot more creature comforts
I personally would go for 1SS 1LE over a non 1LE 2SS.
2SS 1LE if you can budget it

Yeah because the more complicated LT1’s and 8 speeds are the best ever… I’ll take the LS based engines over direct injection any day. Then there’s the 8 speed (obviously not all 6th gens have them) I don’t even need to elaborate here… point is newer is certainly not always better. If you can’t see the retro, timeless style of the 5th gen you need glasses, or a telescope… I find my early ‘10 2SS to be plenty creature friendly. I don’t need or want all the extra BS, it’s just that much more to go wrong.
To the op. I plan to have at least one 5th gen (my current ABM) until I die. And I’m only in my 30’s so that should be a long time. I’m planning to add another in the next year or two. Like cracka said, blink your eyes and the 6th gen parts are going to be equally as hard to find and with all the extra tech they have it’ll be that much more of a pain in the ass to keep them going. And don’t even get me started about the ugly ass refreshed front end. The 16-18’s look better but no where near what the 5ths do. At no point since their inception has the 6th outsold the lowest sales numbers of the 5th gen. There’s a lot to be said about that.
