When the Mustang came back with the 5.0 in 2011 that’s when the muscle car wars started imho. We also got the hemi 6.4 that year. It was a great time to be able to purchase a v8 pony car from 2010-2024. We also had during that time period 650+ HP Camaros/Mustangs/Challengers in the top of the lineup. These cars were absolute bargains when they came out. Prices then crept up a bit in the 2020’s on the piny cars. Still bargains compared to the competition but the vehicles started to creep out of the budgets of a lot of people.
Right now it’s a good time to be a hot hatch enthusiast. I wish I was one because in the last 10 years we’ve had fiesta/focus St’s and RS’s there’s a 12 second golf R, the civic type R somehow made front wheel drive fun and now we have the awd Gr Corolla to replace the death of the Subaru sti. Manufactures and dealers are currently killing this market by making low supply and adding mark up. It’s a shame. Not even a hot hatch enthusiast but feel bad for people that want them.
I hope there’s another muscle car renaissance because I would love to see competition for the Mustang. It also would be nice the see high supply again so we can get 15%+ off msrp again. We can get off msrp a bit on Mustangs and C8’s now but I think it’s due to how much manufacturers increased the prices and now people can’t buy them. It sucks to be a car enthusiast right now if you want something new unless you really like the C8.
I’m not holding my breath on any of the things I hope for. Maybe we’ll eventually see more incentives and lower prices since cars have been rotting on lots but idk dealers are pretty stubborn and would rather lose more money at auction than give a good deal to an actual customer.
