I have stored cars in unheated garages with good success. The most important thing to do is prevent the moisture from the ground coming up under the car. This can be done by putting some sort of barrier under the car. I use multiple runners that you see in the entryways of some stores. They are a THICK vinal material with like a tight heavy duty carpet on them. You can also buy garage mats like at Sam's Clubs or BJ's Wholesale Clubs that will give you the coverage you need.
Car Covers are nice, but expensive. My garage has too much wind go through it when the door is open so I don't use one.
I wax the car before I put it away and then use a California Duster to get the dust off. With the price of these at most Target stores being $10 or $11 dollars, I use them till they start showing signs of dirt and then replace them. The new ones clean my cars and then the older ones get used on the lawn equipment and other gear.
I tend to start the car and move it in and out of the garage on nice dry days. I only drive it on the roads when it has rained HARD and washed most of the salt away, and then dried.
