I use Uniden R6's for my Camaro & Corvette. For my daily driver I use an R7. I added an Escort M version dash cam in all three. For the Camaro and Corvette I simply tapped into the mirror power/ground using pins. For my daily, an old Acura MDX, I did have to do a bit more work.
(For the Camaro I also replaced the rear view mirror with one that has a screen for the rear cam).
Your solution is high quality work, but I'm wondering if there are any advantages over simple taps?
