It looks like a nice part visually. But for me, the feel is what is important for a shifter, obviously less so for an automatic trans, but still important. I am not sure how good a hollow plastic shifter handle will feel to the touch, especially if it has no added weight to it. Once again, I know that isn't as much a factor for an automatic shifter, but weight and feel really do come into play in this. You want that beefy heft when grabbing your shifter in a Camaro. That could just be my opinion though. This part might feel perfect.
A few years back I converted my auto shifter to the manual leather boot and a custom made carbon fiber round knob, similar in size to a queue ball. I do love the way it looks, but sometimes it feels a little disingenuous as it looks like a manual at first glance, and that was never really my intention. I really just wanted to get rid of that plastic auto shifter assembly and clean things up. I can assure you that if that Hurst kit with the black bezel was still being made I would have that installed, as I think it looks amazing. Just not $1000+ amazing.
