I went to Fontana yesterday and I did my first full quarter mile runs on my Camaro. The car is 100% factory stock including the 35 PSI in the rear tires. 2500 miles on the odo. I have had my Rotofab intake system sitting here for 3 weeks all along knowing I was going yesterday and I really wanted to do a back to back comparison. So, I made 3 passes and I was very happy with the baseline, especially since I have the 6 speed manual tans. It is hard to get consistent runs.....
Then I changed the intake and went straight back to the staging lanes. I did not drive around to let the computer learn anything. Not sure if that would matter since the car is in open loop almost the whole run anyways. I never made any attempt to cool the motor down and the hood was closed almost the whole day. As far as ambient and track conditions, I would say that the worst conditions would have been around when the first Rotofab run was and I was about to make a run right after 5PM and it had cooled down quite a bit. But that did not happen as they sent us packing. Obviously the best conditions would have been the first run of the day. It was a nice sunny day with no wind.
