I have a 2010 swapped LS7. My first one didn't last long.
I have plans to do some HPDE or Auto x, but am concerned with engine wear, detonation etc.

26000 miles.
modifications: replaced heads with MAST factory heads + installed TSP BFD cam & 2" Kooks headers.
Downgraded brakes from carboceramic disks with steel ones.
Brey-Krause harness bar and 4 point Scroth harness.
About your concerns: you can get a VERY reliable engine with a few steps, but it really depends on your budget.
Minimum activity is to replace heads. Might not be necessary but you never know. this is the only way to get rid of the chance of having a valve drop.
If you have the budget, I'd consider going for forged pistons and rods when you replace heads. It's expensive but having a stronger and lighter piston+rod set does wonders to reliability.
as long as you don't try to squeeze power from the high end of this engine, reliability is not a concern.
