Welp, I’m about to dissemble the shift linkage “arm” (one that goes to the shifter). I’m not sure if I should figure out how to remove the shifter “assembly”, where the housing for the shifter rotates in/from. It has those things that look like they can flip upwards (using a flathead screwdriver or something), but I recall using a small Allen key to press into somewhere?
I disconnected the shifter “rod” and the u-shaped clips that go to it, but I still need to take off the other end, which is connected to the joint that goes to the offset shifter lever. The rod is completely rusted, so once I end up getting that out, I’ll probably need to end up sanding it…
Aside from those things, I wonder if I need to re-seal the offset shifter lever cover gasket, with RTV gasket maker. I haven’t researched to see if they use like a paper fiber or rubber gasket underneath that cover.
