This is what I did too. I found some different colored ones on Amazon, but were the same specs as the factory AC Delco spark plug wires. The part number was 9478XX (XX = color code?).
I ended up getting AC Delco 9478MM, which were the same as the factory black AC Delco spark plug wires, but just red-colored. They're 7mm thick wires, I believe, but I run heat-resistant spark plug boots/sheathes over the wires, for safety anyways. I also re-used the metal heat shields on the bottoms of the stock spark plug wires, although you can get replacement ones if needed. Some other aftermarket plug wires don't use them.
The only time I ever had to run weird angle spark plug wires, was when I had JBA shorty headers, as well as some American Racing shorty headers. The only shorty header I liked, if anyone even cares, were the BBK 1-3/4" shorty headers. I ran the spark plug wires like normal, and the only other clearance issue, was that I couldn't run long bolts the same orientation as the factory headers and downpipes/cats.
Yes, I eventually went to long tube headers; and no one should ever have plug wire issues there, since there's usually so much clearance with long tubes. If anything, it's more of an issue to be careful not to chip the ends of the spark plugs, while they're left in the engine while installing new headers.
