I really like both cars the 5th gen Z/28 and the 5th gen ZL1, I really wish both tests would have been done on equal tires. The Z/28 used the best griping tire that money could buy in the Perelli Trofeo R and the ZL1 didn't have a chance with the Goodyear Eagle F1 G2 tire which is nowhere near comparable at lapping as quick as the Perelli that was mounted on the Z/28. So the GM engineers played a very good trick with everyone on pulling that one off with the tire difference. If you look at both cars run the Nürburgring the ZL1 tires were squirming and sliding all over the place and the Z/28 was rock solid. So without doubt with equal tires those times could have been very different, the ZL1 top speed hit 172mph and was pulling more mph on several sections of the track, even being the heavier weight. I love the Z/28 brakes most of all on that car.
