Well certainly it sounds like a bargain today, but that was not at today's earnings in today's dollars. Trust me, I worked every bit as hard to pay for my $3,385 Z/28 in 1969 as people are working today for a $32,000-$37,000 Camaro SS today. If I remember correctly new Corvettes at that time stickered for $5K-$6K. So yeah, if you look at it from today's perspective the '69 Z/28 was cheap, if you lived, worked, and bought one in '69 it was not necessarily "a bargain".
