I'm guessing that you still have the temp registration from NY for the car. Once you get your NJ registration, you will have to take it to a NJ Inspection station for the NJ sticker.
With the registration paperwork for the car, you should get a yellow form that state you purchased the car out of state. This form allows the inspection station to put the new car sticker on the windshield, that good for 3 years. They don't inspect the car, just put the sticker on the windshield, and do their paperwork.
Windows tint may be an issue. Hope this helps!
