VALIDATION.
Well, I was able to run at Fontana again yesterday and now I am more sure about my performance increase with the Rotofab intake. Keep in mind that this track is actual altitude of about 1100 feet and runs slightly uphill. Not sure what the DA was but I do not think it was that good since they were actually predicting rain at one time. BUT, It was cold. 58 deg on the ambient display. My car now has the Rotofab intake, Royal Purple Syncromax synthetic fluid in the Trans, a MGW shifter and the BMR Trailing arms (they don't work). I always run 35 PSI in the rear tires.
Anyhow, first run I was trying to do a lower RPM clutch slipping launch and the clutch hung up again and did not engauge properly. But, I know what to do now so it is a quick snap the throttle closed and then right back open and that takes care of it. I am thinking I might have done a 2.05-2.10 60 foot if that did not happen. Not bad at all considering my inability to do a high RPM clutch slipping launch.
#1 9:18 AM
60 foot 2.306
1/8 8.891
MPH 84.84
1/4 13.429
MPH 109.12
Hot lapped right back for a second run. This was a clutch dropped at about 2500 RPM with the usual wheelhop, hook & bog.
#2 9:31 AM
60 foot 2.293
1/8 8.918
MPH 84.11
1/4 13.486
MPH 108.68
I made a couple more runs that were throw aways. I tried the competitive launch mode and it hits the tires way too hard. My clutch works perfect if you just dump it and in that mode it is 4200 RPM. So.......VIOLENT wheelhop where the tires are off the ground 75% of the time. So I basically had to get completely out of it.
I also tried another run short shifting it at 5500 rpm which caused me to be in 4th gear for the first time ever. I think, based on incrimental times, the best thing to do would be to shift to second at 5800 and then to third at 6200 and finish in third. If I had drag radials I would say to shift at 6200 every time.
