Look at similar engines in similar platforms from other companies and it either beats them outright or is really competitive.
My view is that GM has seen no need to bump up the power.
With Ford now putting 300 ponies in their base pony, that may be the reason they need to push things to the next level.

More power would probably come at the expense of fuel mileage which really is not an option.
