From what Ive gathered the 2nd/after CAT O2 main job is to see if the CAT is working/cloged and it gives info back to the ECU in .xxx Volts .The 1st O2(pre cat) job is to give feedback in open loop .
When the CAT is not there the Votlage values are off (lower/richer) causing the ECU to trip a code .
By moving the O2 out of the exhaust pipe a lil the O2 gets less exhaust flow and reads higher voltage(leaner) .
So the ECU "see" a CAT
Give it a try its very cheap (like $5) , Ive been using this for over 5 years of 2cars and no CEL .
