I thought it said LT1 I changed my post after I seen the error.
The LS1 GTO was a high 13-low 14 second car, it was not until the LS2 that the GTO Competed with the GT.
A friend had a 2006 and ran the same times I did with the same mods. He had (Custom tune, Volant CAI, SLP Long Tube Headers, Hi flow cat, Vigilante 3200 Converter, Hand ported stock TB, 25% underdrive Pulleys, Pedders Street II Suspension, Drag Bags, MT ET Drags, 3.91 gears ) and we always ran in the 12.3 range, he trapped higher than me 113 -115 mph I was 108 -110
I am a Huge fan of the LSx Motor, I still beleive they are a superior engine to all other pushrod engines,
GM did a fantastic job on these engines.
This statement is still true.

Yes Ford is behind but they had no competition since 2002..
and the Modular 4.6L is actually is a very old platform and it is out dated. (introduced in 1991 )
the LSx motor was introduced in 1997 so it's actually a newer motor than fords Mod motor.
and I am a GM Guy, This is my First Ford, and I do Love this car.

And really you can't Compare a 19 year old 4.6 L platform to a 5.7 L one. Of course the 5.7 L is going to be stronger it's got a one Liter avantage. but you have got to admit the 4.6L performs well for what it is.
It made Wards Top 10 Best Engines List 3 times and the Rotrex supercharged Ford Modular 4-valve DOHC 4.7 V8, which produced 806 hp (601 kW), to achieve a top speed of 241 mph. This certified top speed was recorded on February 28, 2005 in Nardo, Italy and broke the McLaren F1's world record for fastest production car. The accomplishment was recognized by Guinness World Records in 2005. Only to be broken several months later by the Bugatti Veyron.
