Woot another guy who likes the 29inch bikes. I think the hidden hitch is the way to go though. It takes a while for the roof rack companies to come out with pillars for the new cars-you don't need drip rails btw. If you get a rack that supports by the wheel instead of the toptube, then you won't drag the wheels when you're coming out of a driveway.

You WILL screw up your car AND your bike trying to put a mountain bike in the rear seat or the trunk. He's got an L-XL frame on 29inch wheels, I doubt it will fit period- but if it does he's going to scratch up the trunk opening. Most of the trunk racks will slide back and forth slightly leaving little squares where the pads are if the pads get any grit at all plus the bike is more likely to touch the car because it doesn't have much space from the vehicle.
