Ya the problem is a scratch or crack in a Carbon Fiber frame could mean having to buy a new Frame, so relatively the cost is substantial. Yes $3k vs $40k is small but its all relative. 3gs is still 3 gs...
EDIT: and a Bike rack when installed properly is not going to wreck or damage a Camaro one bit, but its quite easy to destroy a bike AND make a mess of your car while you're at it if you try and carry a bike the wrong way.
