I was told (and actually saw from experience) that if you put synthetic oil in a car and then put regular oil in, its extremely bad for the engine and specifically was told that this coudl lead to the engine not turning off when you switch it off. Lo and behold, My dad's navigator took synthetic but at one point whoever did the oil change (it may have been me i dont remember I was 14) put regular in and at points the engine refused to turn off (literally) such as turning the ignition off and taking the key out and the engine would remain running....

I'm no where near an expert but just curious is this truly bad for the engine?
