Great reply! Welcome to the site. I owe you bonus points. Guess I have to admit i'm not up to speed with 21st century automotive technology. It appears to be a rigid cast aluminum pan rather than the old stamped sheetmetal pans of years gone by. I under stood the reason for an oil cooler, just didn't envision how it was built into the pan. I haven't turned wrenches on cars in a few years other than a few basic mods i've done myself. I could rebuild a engine with a few hundred dollars worth of tools years ago. It has to cost a fortune to due extensive repairs nowdays.
