Ok, let's say 200,000 people want to buy a 30-35k sports car, when there was no Camaro, Ford split the pie with VW, Audi, Subaru, Toyota and Honda. When the Camaro came out, Ford had to split it's market with GM, minus the few foriegn buyers GM picked up. Add to that the fact that informed Mustang owners were holding out for the 2011 V-6 or V-8, and you get a slow down. Would I have bought a 2010 if there was no new engine in the works? Yep. Will I wait till 2012 for the new engine and the bugs to get worked out? Yep. Plus it gives the aftermarket a year to come up with mods. Will it hurt Mustang's sales? Yep, and I really do feel sorry to those that are laid off, but I am not the government, I can't buy a 2010,11, and 12 just to make people happy. It would make the wife get "difficult".
