I also agree that the SS nameplate has lost some of its power mystique by being slapped on almost every vehicle in Chevy’s line up. It's kinda like when Carrol Shelby was letting Mopar put the Shelby name on a 1986 Dodge Omni for crying out loud.

I think that diluted the Shelby image. And then there was the Shelby Dodge Daytona...a pile of steaming dog pooh.
I'm not say that Chevy was done as bad with SS overload as Shelby allowed with hs good name, but the SS nameplate can be and probably has been diluted as a result of its over-use.
It’s gotta be the “Z”….. and not necessarily followed by a 28, if you know what I mean.
