Agreed. It's too bad, since it is a great State in so many ways.

I wonder if California would even be able to enforce this tax on businesses. Businesses in other States will have to collect taxes from each different state at different rates, etc. Improbable, I think.


Here's a scenario:

A business is located in California. You live in California but are in Vegas for the weekend. You purchase something online and have it shipped to your home. No transaction occurred in California, so Cali collects no tax.

Everyone in California will find someone in another state to make all of their online purchases for them. Then, the transaction will have never taken place in California if the buyer and seller are located in other states. The item gets shipped to California and the end result is the same, no internet tax.
