First of all, quoting 0-60 times isn't really a good performance indicator. That 0-60 reference was devised decades ago, when cars were pathetically slow. For modern cars, 0-100 mph would be more accurate to use. 0-60 has a lot to do with traction, and most newer performance cars make plenty of power to blister the tires.
Camaro feels a bit heavy from a stop, because it is. Like others said, from a highway roll they move very well. Also, the aftermarket is strong, if you have enough funds you can build a 1,000 hp Camaro to satisfy your desires.
As for comparing it to other fast cars like a Z06 or Viper, it doesn't compare. Two different categories of cars.
