There's no discernable difference between 10W-30 and 5W-30 oil as far as the engine response; the only difference is the ability of the oil to flow at cold temps. The lower the 'weight', the easier the oil will flow when it's cold...at operating temp, both 5W and 10W will 'act' the same. In Texas, 10W-30 would be preferable to 5W-30 simply because your temps are normally higher than, say, Minnesota.....only maybe not this year! A more noticeable effect on performance is the fuel quality/octane rating. Lots of other factors can influence performance such as air density/temp, exhaust restrictions, air intake restrictions, glitches in the computer performance parameters, etc. If your Camaro isn't running as well as it did, it's probably worth having the dealer run a diagnostic...is it still at the dealer?
