I agree. I hate to rain on someones parade, especially after someone has done such a great job with a write-up, but the wiring is wrong. I absolutely agree that splicing RCA cables into the existing low level signals is the best way to go and that a line converter is not needed. BUT, the RCA cables must be spliced into the low level inputs on the X3 connector. The OP has spliced into the amplified speaker wires that go to the rear 6x9s (BA Factory Subwoofers). Splicing into the amplified signal instead of the low level inputs will not give a clean signal and doing so without using a LOC is even worse.
