The car did over $800,000 at the auction with the new engine in place.

Now, do I think any of our cars are going to be like that... no, but the moral of the story is, take the engine, it wont matter 40 years down the road. As far as keeping the old one, not gonna happen.
Wow! That is a lot of money! Of course I highly doubt even 100% original with very few miles would our cars bring that kind of money in but ya never know. LOL dang I wanted to keep the old one!!

If the sound speeds up and slows down with RPMs like you said in the other thread then I would say it's a pretty safe bet it's in the motor. It's absurd to thing that changing the motor will in any way affect the value of the car because it won't. They have to start somewhere , and if gm going to give you a new motor, then let them do it. Just make sure you get a print out of every single time you had it there for this problem. I didn't see where you were from ,but in Pa it's three strikes and your out as far as lemon law goes. Good luck and don't worry. If your dealership has good techs changing a motor isn't nearly as bad as it sounds.
It is for sure coming from the engine, they are lost at where and what in the engine exactly. This is the first time in for this problem and fingers crossed whatever the outcome is the last time. I'm in Florida and our LL is 3x for the same issue or 15 or more days in the shop for repairs for any issue. Once it comes to that you have to send a certified letter to the auto company giving them one last attempt at repair before going in front of the arbitration group. Been there done that and it is a lengthy nightmare! However I'm not to the point of needing that yet like I said this is the first attempt to repair and hasn't even been in for a week yet. Got my fingers crossed that I get it properly repaired and back home soon!
