A bit OT:

If he gets good grades in school (3.7GPA+) and the local university has an accelerated baccalaureate program, he can actually complete a four year degree in three years.

Otherwise, a four year plan requires at minimum 16 credits per term to complete. Not 12, which is full time, 12 credits will take 5 years.
