As for the clearance, think curb clearance. Closer to the wheelsthe lowest body point is the better. also the steeper the angle from the lowest point close to the wheel to the front of the bumper the better fro clearance.

Ex: if the lowest point is on the tip of the bumper then speed bumps become a problem. If the lowest point is close to the wheels, then the wheel have a much mor elikely chance to have contact with the speed bump before the body does.

Homework: attach a ruler to the front of a bumper so that it is 4 inches from the ground. Go over speed bump or an parking lot entry that incline up. Im sure the ruler will be ripped off. Now attach the same ruler to bumper from the fenderwell area on the bumper with 4 inches from the ground. Try the same manuever.

Would you mind re-typing the first paragraph, it is hard to understand. If you are extremely concerned about clearance why don't you just flatten out the bottom. It looks like a crooked picture frame. I don't think an inch is extremely vital to ground clearance either, I bet the Corvette is still lower per inch of nose extension than this would be anyways.
