Exactly the same radio.
Basically the BA upgrades (2SS/2LT) replace the 6 speakers with higher quality Boston Acoustic's and add 3 more speakers making it a total of 9.
In addition the option also adds an amp to power these 9 speakers which makes the system a lot louder, but again the radio is the exact same unit.
In short, the sound you hear in non-BA system is the sound the radio produces. The BA upgrade takes this same sound signal and enhances it.
