Here is the E-mail conversation I had with Injen....

(E-mail to Injen)
I recently purchased and installed the Injen Cold Air Intake. Since the first day I've noticed an actual whistling sound while accelerating. I've had a cold air intake on my previous two vehicles and never heard this type of noise before. Additionally, I had an Air Aid cold air intake on this Camaro before I bought your product, and never noticed this type of noise. It isn't the sound of air being pulled into the filter it is definetly a whistling sound. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Maybe the tube inside the tube, as shown in the attached picture) Apparently it is common noise since some other members on Camaro5.com have noticed this too. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe Ragolia

Good morning Joe,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I believe you might have called yesterday and after speaking with Natalie (Injen customer service) regarding your issue, I had the original test vehicle brought in and we inspected it for any odd or abnormal whistling sounds. The only sound I heard was when you slightly press the accelerator pedal. There was an audible hissing/whistle sound. This sound is usually audible when installing a free flowing intake system due to removing all the factory muffler/resonator chambers and the restrictive air box. Normally the sound comes from the idle air control valve solenoid or when the air passes through the throttle body plate when it is slightly open causing the air to whistle. The tube inside the tube is called our Air Fusion tuning process which is now used in 90% of our intake that we design. This would not cause the intake to whistle. Are you 100% sure that the Airaid intake didn’t whistle? Is the sound unbearable? Does the sound affect the performance of the intake system? Do you have any check engine light? Hopefully it’s just the common hissing/whistling sound that is affiliated with most aftermarket intake systems.

Thanks for the quick response, I was the one who called yesterday and spoke with Natalie. I’m 99.99% sure that the Air Aid intake didn’t make a whistling noise. I also haven’t noticed anyone posting anything about the Air Aid making a whistling noise on the forum. The sound isn’t unbearable, but it does catch my attention and the attention of other members on the forum who have it installed. I’ve noticed it especially around the 2500 rpm range. The check engine light has not come on, and there is a noticeable improvement in performance. It seems to be a very high quality intake. I just figured I would check with you guys to see if there was a feasible solution to the whistling noise.

Thanks,
Joe Ragolia
