I could just hear what an informational video shown in the defensive driving class would say (if it were honest)

.......Speed limits, originally conceived with public safety in mind, have expanded into a convenient and important source or revenue for our state and local governments, funding our pet projects, and hiring more public employees........after all, why be responsible with tax revenue or tax (unpopular) for more revenue when you can use the police power to harass people out of more money while claiming it is for public safety.

Come on, half the cars on the road must have speedometers that are 3 mph off.
