250 pounds is a big hunk of weight to shave off. The Camaro has to add, at minimum, about 30 more HP to level out the HP/Weight ratio. The crank HP difference isnt much, but the amount of power it puts to the ground and how much weight it has to move means more.

The Camaro realistically cannot, in this generation, slim itself by 200-300 pounds without massive use of composites and carbon fiber, which will drive the price up ALOT (40K+ for the 1SS base). What GM can do is DI the L99 and LS3 motors and pick up about 20 HP or so, work with a tune and put headers on them from the factory. BAM, 30 more HP. That will level out the HP/Weight ratio and put things on the level(ish) again.

From a performance stand point 412 HP on 3610lbs is better than 426 at 3850. Simple numbers and ratios. It is also better than 400 HP at 3950.
So in this case 456 HP at 3850 and 430 at 3950 will be better than the current numbers and negate the Mustangs advantage.

For 2011 MY..Chevy is behind Ford both with the Taurus/Malibu and Mustang/Camaro. I've said it before and I'll say it again..GM should take 2011 to regroup, get some hot new numbers and progress in the Camaro and take the Mustang apart in 2011 for the 2012 MY, same with the Taurus/Malibu comparison.

Screaming and trying to minimize the Mustang doesnt help the Camaro.
