mine have the sensors and my valve stems are black rubber lookin ones.

i have seen the older ones looked like bolt-on valve stems which are all metal with no rubber. the sensors on our cars might be the kind that wrap around the middle of the wheel, but i have not personally seen my wheels with the tires off.

not sure how much air has to be let out since the only time i reprogrammed the tpms sensros, it was with the calibration tool. discount tire has the tool, if there is one near you just drive up there and ask them to relearn the sensors for you, they do free air checks, so they shouldn't charge you.
It is about 10 - 15 seconds per tire.
