If I recall correctly, Scott already had said (either here or in another forum-think the link was posted somewhere here), that the LS7 would not be an option for the 5th Gen. It's production cost (built by hand) would be too high. So...the LS7 goes for what?...$14K, $15K as a crate motor? But, as you saw in my earlier post about GMMG releasing the LS3 crate engine, it's going to cost half if not less than the LS7 crate engine.

GM won't put the LS7 in a Camaro...unless it's built by GMMG as a special edition. But, I don't even see that happening. I see an LS3 supercharged or even another small cube/high hp engine going into a special edition. Either way, only small blocks going into the 5th Gen....weight issue. Of course, there will be many, many folks who order the V6 and toss in a big cube V8 changing out all the other internals under the hood as well for the track.
