well your stock exhaust is consist of exhaust manifolds, cats, resonators and mufflers also on the camaor their is an h pipe to balace the exhaust pressure from side to side. now aftermarket exhaust, headers will flow better than the exhaust manifolds, which should also help the sound and performance(you will need a tune with this), catbacks replaces everything from the cats to the exhaust tips, most catbacks use an x pipe instead of h pipe for better balance and flow, axle back, is just how it sounds is basically replacing the stock muffler and tips. now things like removing the resonators will help with the sound of the exhaust. as far as cats you never remove the cats but some do, this will help with flow and sound, or you can go with high flow cats(you will need a tune doing this as well) as far as deciding what exhaust to go with, you will just have to listen to see what you like. their is a thread with sound clips from many manufactors that make exhaust. start their to get an idea of how the exhaust will sound. just rememeber it will sound different in person.

i hope that answers your question
