At the L.A. autoshow in November of last year I asked one of the Porsche reps at their exhibition why the 997 GT3 had a sunroof, since it's a track car? The rep said that Porsche could only import the GT3 w/ a sunroof because that's the only specification in which the 997 was crash tested. Otherwise they'd have to crash test the car all over again, which would costs them more. Sounds weird to me, but that's what I was told.

The more these cars are crash tested the more confidence we have behind the wheel. At least that's how I feel, not that that's incentive to drive recklessly in any way.
