I dont know for scientific fact that it is too thin, however i know i have owned 5 cars and this is the first brand new car. The other four much older, newest a 2000 model. None of them have chips "like these" anywhere. Some do have chips yes from age, but they look different. These look like someone just quickly pressed the trigger on a sand blaster about 6 inches away. Most are really tiny looks like dimples, and the really visible ones well you can see in the pic. And the undercoat or material whatever is showing being white makes it really visible.

I dont have a mil tester but I have eyes lol no sarcasm intended. You look at the chips on the new car vs the chips on the old car and you can see an obvious difference in thickness.

I compare it best with window tint... You tint a window with one layer, then poke it will something sharp, goes through easy. Tint that window again 2 more times you poke it again but now you don't see light come through as easy. Same concept with paint and clear coat right??

I hope you can find something more substantial with your mil tester, because I would like to have my car tested, just overall very disappointed. Bottom line the car was $38000. It should have gotten a better paint job.
