But I was just isolating the decision process of if you should or shouldn't get a V8 based on fear of rising gas prices. I'm saying it doesn't make that much of diff considering the amount we're paying for these cars, so get the V8 if gas is your only concern.
Now, if someone bombs Iran.... nevermind...I don't want to think about $8 to 10 a gallon gas. :(

You missed my point. Using percentage is a terrible way to do this. If the V8 got 1 mpg and the V6 got 50 mpg the percentage would still shrink with your formula - so by your logic we all should buy the worst mpg vehicle because when gas goes up the percentage of money spent between V8/V6 on gas goes down.
