Yes, the L99 is a different engine than the LS3.

The primary difference you would notice is the L99 with the automatic transmission has AFM - Active Fuel Management.

Both perform great and provide a great driving experience. It just depends on your transmisssion choice.

Of course there is a strong contingent that would rather have had the LS3 automatic, but that would have put the Camaro in the Gas Guzzler range and added some big bucks in taxes.
