Now I'm probably going to cause a lot of trouble hear, but I need help deciding on whether to get the 2010 Camaro LS or the 2011 Mustang V6.
Now before everybody starts a flame war hear me out. I love and hate things about both cars, and in my opinion a true car guy appreciates a fine automobile regardless of who made it. That said I'm equally fond of the way both cars look. The Mustang isn't too big, just the right size. And the Camaro is definitely one hot car.
Since both cars are the lowest base models available they're basically the same price. Both sit at a respectable $22,xxx. Both get amazing gas mileage with the Mustang getting about 1 or 2 MPG's better than the Camaro. The base Mustang comes with, what appears, to be some sort of rim, while the Camaro gets those steel wheels. Not saying I don't like them, but honestly I think GM should have made something a little more appealing. They just look way out of place on the Camaro.
Both cars are relatively the same as far as power goes, but the Mustang is lighter. GM also offers the 100,000 mile warranty while Ford only has a 36,000 mile warranty.
I love the Camaro's interior, for it's looks and it's retro feel. But I'm more partial to the Mustang's interior cause it does have some retro feel, but while still staying modern looking. The quality of parts in the interior IMO is better in the Mustang.
Both are great cars and this is the exact reason I can't decide on which one I'd rather have. I know the Camaro is far more sexier than any Mustang, but I'm not sure I'd want all that attention. People's Camaro's get egged, and dinged, and scratched every time they go out it seems. Mustang is old news and won't attract nearly as much attention. Quite honestly if I was the type to vandalize nice cars, I wouldn't give the Mustang a second look.
Now for some more off topic opinion based comments. My family has always owned GM cars. And I've always been impressed with them. But while GM took money from the government, Ford took none. The Mustang was the first "Pony car" and the Camaro came shortly afterwards. While both Dodge and GM dropped the Challenger, Charger, Camaro, GTO, Barracuda, etc. Ford was the only company to keep the Mustang in production. For me that says a lot about a companies commitment to their car. And for a car that's been consistently underpowered compared to the others, the Mustang has always managed to really stir up some conflict among the pony car wars since it first started production. It always seems that Ford manages to do more with less. They build smaller engines because that's what they want, not because they can't. Those are just observations that I've made about each company, I don't want to start any arguments or fights with anybody.
And before anyone says I'm just partial to Ford...no not really. We have a Camaro here at the house, an SS at that and have always owned GM cars. I just want to get the MOST out of my money. Since both are priced the same I want to get whichever will offer me more.
So have at it guys and tell me which one you would pick and why if you were in my shoes. Don't pick the Camaro just because you have one. Weigh the options and tell me honestly which you would choose and why.
Thanks in advance guys
