I definitely agree, but to get the weight of the camaro down to the weight of the 5.0 with weight reduction would be VERY hard. You already have to take off about 300 lbs to match the 5.0's stock weight, then more for what they shaved off. Interior bits only weigh so much. You'd have to start replacing suspension and drivetrain components with lighter pieces, using lots of carbon fiber, maybe lexan. The weight is definitely a key advantage in drag racing, along with the solid rear. It's going to be great though. Once the aftermarket opens up for the 5.0 you better believe there will be more aftermarket demand for the ls3/l99 which means more parts. It's going to be crazy on both sides.

I'm not going to go back and quote it, but whoever said evo muddied the waters with weight reduction, I agree. Taking out simple things that usual drivers do like the spare, jack and all that is cool, but I'm anxious to see exactly what they did. I'm not surprised though, evo goes number hunting HARD when new vehicles come out. They were the first into the 10's, 9's and 8's with a gt500 lol and they'll probably do the same with the 5.0

seems that the biggest issue you Camaro guys is obviously weight...but the IRS as well. does anyone make a 12 bolt that can replace it?
