nearly all of their autos have been computer controlled since '93 when the 4l60e came out. they started phasing out non computer controlled transmissions after that point
the only auto transmission GM has offered that I can think of off hand that doesn't have a torque converter (because it is a clutchless manual) is the Easytronic that is offered for Opel/Vauxhall brands.

I haven't noticed anything like this either (not saying it doesn't exist
) but I just don't see it happening since the 6L90 is already proven and calibrated to LSA.
