A short-throw shifter gives you shorter throws but LESS leverage... so by pure physics you should be hitting the synchros HARDER with the stock shifter (it has more leverage).

BTW- I tried a stock shifter again in my buddy's car the other day... it felt like rowing a boat with a wet noodle. But I guess some people like that (or don't know any better).
