Dude ur dreaming or you are totally BS'ing my G37 ran the quarter in 13.5 sec on my first track run. Now, with jic susp, tsw 19x8.5, 19x10r on ventus v12 injen cai FI hfc/exhaust no headers yet and a tune I run 12.7 to 12.9 easy on average. I can't imagine a Z running slower than my G stock or with a tune. And yes it is a drivers race. This is why.
The NISMO is a manual, therefore it is up to the driver to harness the power to keep up with you. A NISMO, with a semi pro driver will put down 13 seconds on a track. With a proper tune. Alone without further mods, the Nismo will put down wat my G pulls and with the same mods it will eat my G37s coupe easily.
So driver skill is a huge part of it especially if he is not a seasoned manual driver. Another thing. You can have a nismo but if you don't order that oil cooler and u been on a track all day ur losing power after 30 min. What was that NISMO'S condition when you raced it???
Lastly the advantage a Z has over a camaro is the 550lb difference between a base+sport Z and a !SS camaro or the 400 lb difference between a NISMO and 1ss camaro. What a Z lacks in HP is gets back in weight and handling. U can get a aftermarket suspension to run circles around a Z but what happens when a Z runs an aftermarket suspension as well?
What happens when someone decides to gut everything out of a Z and puts in racing seats and he's 2500lbs. You can do this all day. So keep it stock or mild mods to be fair.
I'm not knocking a Z or a camaro. Both awesome cars. But you gotta look @ things as a realist not a loyalist.
