He prob pumped you 100LL (the Blue Stuff). Thats AVGAS made for piston aviation engines. It's around 100 octane.
JP4 is millitary's version of Jet-A which is purified lamp oil. Kerosene. This will run diesel's ok but wouldnt do to good in gasoline engines.
